Longer therapy sessions,
in person in the Heights

Intensives are longer therapy sessions built around specific goals. Instead of one hour a week for months, you work in extended blocks over a day or a few days, using EMDR, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, IFS, or talk therapy.

You work with Joe Lenhoff, LCSW-S, in person at our Houston Heights office or by telehealth anywhere in Texas or Virginia.

Where the time goes

In a weekly session, a good share of the hour goes to catching up on the week, then to settling you back down before you walk out the door. Hard material often opens up right when it's time to close it, and next week we start over.

A longer block keeps the momentum. We can stay with a memory or a pattern until it's done moving, then close once. You also spend far less time on scheduling, payment, and wrap-up, so more of what you pay for goes to the work itself.

In person on Heights Boulevard

Intensives happen in our office, a converted bungalow at 1533 Heights Blvd, a short drive from Montrose, Garden Oaks, and the rest of the Inner Loop. You come back to the same room with the same clinician for every block. Between blocks you can step outside, grab something to eat nearby, or walk the Heights Boulevard trail before we pick back up.

If you live elsewhere in Texas or in Virginia, the same intensive works by telehealth.

Who intensives work well for

A good fit if you

  • Have trauma or PTSD symptoms getting in the way of daily life
  • Have specific things you want to work on
  • Want focused progress, or feel stuck in weekly therapy
  • Have a big change coming up, like a move, a new job, or a court date
  • Find it easier to set aside a day or two than to show up every week

Better to wait if you

  • Are using substances heavily or in withdrawal
  • Are in crisis, unsafe at home, or not medically stable
  • Need to build steadiness and coping skills first, especially with heavy dissociation
  • Prefer a slower pace with more time to settle between sessions
  • Want to use insurance for the intensive

$300 Foundation, then $200 an hour

Every intensive starts with a 90-minute Foundation Session to map your history and targets. Then come your intensive hours, in one day or split across several, and a follow-up session within 6 months of your intensive. These are the common lengths. Any other length works at the same rate.
