Trauma & PTSD ACT Meaning Reconstruction The Daring Way Shame Resilience

"There is freedom waiting for you, on the breezes of the sky, and you ask 'What if I fall?' Oh but my darling, what if you fly?" โ€” Erin Hanson

Finding your way out of a dark place can feel overwhelming when you're tired of carrying everything or trying coping strategies that don't work anymore. If you've ever felt misunderstood or worn down by pressure to "have it all together," you're not broken; you're human. Trauma can steal safety and innocence, and grieving that loss matters. Maybe you've been told you're "too much," or felt "not enough," or exhausted by the need to perfect or hide because of shame. You don't have to do that here or anywhere else.

In the operating room, the surgeon is the expert; the nurse hands them the tools. In this case, the operating room is your life, you're the surgeon โ€” the expert โ€” and I'm the nurse handing you tools like Acceptance and Commitment (ACT), Meaning Reconstruction (MR), and other evidence-based approaches. My experience in psychiatric hospitals and Brenรฉ Brown's Daring Way inform my work. Together, we will find what works for you.

Vulnerability is raw courage; it's choosing to fly even though you're afraid you'll fall. As a Daring Way Trained Facilitator, we'll explore it together. I'm not perfect; I call myself a "beautiful mess," and you're welcome to be one here, too. I value honesty and showing up as we are โ€” not as we're "supposed" to be. If you're ready to share your story, I'm ready to listen.

Dami sees adults and couples. She is available with weekday evening slots โ€” in-person and via telehealth.

Why we built HHT the way we did.

Houston Heights Therapy was founded in 2023 with a specific intention: to create a practice where LGBTQ+ clients, neurodivergent individuals, trauma survivors, and people who've been failed by other systems could receive genuinely affirming care without having to explain or justify themselves first.

We're a small practice by design. Every clinician here has been selected for both clinical skill and values alignment. We don't take every referral โ€” we take the right ones. And we keep our caseloads sized so that our therapists can actually show up fully for the people they work with.

Our office is at 1533 Heights Blvd, Houston TX 77008 โ€” in the heart of Houston Heights, with telehealth available across Texas.
