Built for adults who were missed

Both questions at once

Many autistic adults also have ADHD, so we assess both when the picture calls for it.

In the room, not on a screen

Many adult assessments are done over video. Ours happen in person, in our office on Heights Boulevard.

Your records stay yours

We don't bill insurance for it, so nothing from it goes on a claim. You decide who sees your letter or report, and a short accommodation letter lets you share only what's needed.

What the MIGDAS-2 actually is

The MIGDAS-2 is a structured conversation built for understanding autism in verbally fluent adults. We talk about your sensory life, the interests you come back to, how you communicate, and how relationships have gone over the years. There are no timed tasks and nothing to perform.

It runs as one in-person interview of about 3 hours in our office at 1533 1/2 Heights Blvd., Rear Building, Houston, TX 77008, with breaks whenever you need them.

You don't have to mask here

  • Take breaks whenever you want, without explaining why
  • Stim, fidget, pace, or look away. Eye contact is never expected.
  • Answer in writing if talking gets harder partway through
  • Bring headphones, a drink, or whatever helps you stay regulated

What this assessment can and can't do

This assessment works for

  • Understanding yourself, with real evidence behind it
  • Workplace accommodations under the ADA
  • College disability services (each school sets its own rules, so check first)
  • Sharing with your doctor, prescriber, or therapist
  • Sorting out how autism, ADHD, trauma, and anxiety fit together for you

This assessment is not for

  • Extra time on standardized exams like the SAT, GRE, LSAT, MCAT, or bar
  • Social Security disability claims
  • Legal, custody, or immigration matters
  • IQ, learning disability, or memory questions
  • Anyone under 18
If your goal is in the second column, you need a licensed psychologist or neuropsychologist. We'll tell you that at the free consult, before you pay anything, and share names of people who do that work.

Self-pay onlyNothing is billed to insurance and no diagnosis is sent to an insurer.

Common questions

Can a licensed clinical social worker diagnose autism in Texas?
Yes. In Texas, a licensed clinical social worker can diagnose conditions in the DSM-5-TR, which includes autism and ADHD. What we don't do is psychological testing, like IQ or learning disability batteries. Standardized exam boards and Social Security usually require that kind of testing from a psychologist, so we'll tell you at the consult if you need one.
Why don't you bill insurance for this?
Billing insurance puts a diagnosis on a claim and gives the insurer access to your records. Keeping the assessment private pay means nothing from it goes on an insurance claim, and you decide who sees the report.
I already identify as autistic. Is this still for me?
Yes, if you want formal documentation or a clearer picture of how autism, ADHD, and anything else fit together for you. Self-identification is valid, and we won't treat the assessment as a test of whether you were right.
