Therapy Intensives

Therapy Intensives
Sometimes healing requires more than a weekly session. Therapy intensives provide extended, focused time to dive deeper into specific concerns — helping you make progress more quickly when you feel stuck or want to accelerate your growth.

An Intensive Might Be Right For You If You Want To:

  • Address trauma or patterns that feel “stuck”

  • Jump-start your therapy journey with dedicated time

  • Explore relationship dynamics in greater depth

  • Do focused work during a life transition or crisis

  • Complement ongoing weekly therapy with a deeper dive

Intensives are personalized to your needs and may range from a half-day to multiple days. Together, we’ll create a plan that balances intensity with safety, care, and integration.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a therapy “intensive”?

Intensive therapy is a novel approach to accomplishing therapeutic goals in a fresh format.  The length and frequency of these sessions are customized based on collaboration between the therapist and client.  Each session is unique to target specific issues and accomplish therapeutic goals in a (typically) shorter amount of time. *Insurance does not cover intensive therapy so the cost is 100% out-of-pocket*

What are the benefits of intensive therapy?

The benefits of working intensively in therapy can be the convenience of scheduling a longer session and working for longer periods of time with certain modalities.  EMDR and ART are particularly useful in longer sessions to work on complex and incident trauma, anxiety, depression, and more.  Additionally, the longer session alleviates time spent “checking-in” that typically occurs at the beginning of each session, as well as the time spent at the end of session “wrapping up” and administrative tasks such as payment and scheduling.

What does an intensive session look like?

Each intensive includes the designated number of hours for the focused session itself.  For example a 2 HR intensive would include 120 minutes of therapy utilized in any format including EMDR, ART, or talk therapy.  Each session also includes a 90 minute Foundation Session in addition to the number of intensive hours purchased.  This is where the therapist and client review the intensive assessments, history-taking, and build rapport and understanding of therapeutic targets and goals.  Lastly, each session also includes a 30 minute or 1 HR follow-up session to be used within 6 months of purchasing the intensive.

Are there any drawbacks to intensive sessions?

Of course!  Here are a few examples:

  • Some clients prefer the rhythm of weekly therapy sessions with check-ins to go over each week.  This format is intended for highly focused goal-setting to attempt to bring substantial results in a shorter period of time.

  • Clients who experience incredible levels of trauma, dissociation, suicidality, and psychosis may not benefit as much from these sessions as typically we will need to develop resources over time to handle EMDR and ART reprocessing.  These clients would benefit (generally) from the standard weekly session model.

  • Insurance DOES NOT cover intensive therapy sessions, so paying out-of-pocket for intensives is a drawback for some clients.
