Frequently Asked Questions

General Therapy

Your first appointment is mostly about us getting to know each other. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you in, what you’d like to get out of therapy, and go over any questions you have. There’s no pressure to share everything all at once — it’s about finding a pace that feels safe for you.

Individual and couples sessions are 50 minutes. Group sessions run longer, usually 90–180 minutes depending on the group.

Both! We offer in-person sessions at our Houston Heights office, and we also provide HIPAA-compliant telehealth anywhere in Texas.

If you’ve been feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just want support from someone outside your circle, therapy can be a really good fit. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you start — that’s what we’re here for.

Yes. You can book a session directly through our online portal. If you’d prefer to talk first, book a free 15-minute consult.

We’ll match you with an available therapist based on your needs and schedule. If you have a preference, let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate.

Many clients pay out of pocket, and we can also provide a “superbill” that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

We keep a limited number of reduced-fee spots. Please ask during your consultation if that’s something you’d need.

We keep a card on file and charge after each session. We also accept HSA and FSA cards.

About the Therapists

Joseph is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Supervisor with over a decade of experience. Our Associate Therapist is a Licensed Master Social Worker who meets with clients directly under Joseph’s supervision. Associates offer quality therapy at a lower cost.

Joseph meets weekly with our LMSW to review cases, provide support, and make sure clients are getting the best care possible.

It usually comes down to your preferences around cost, scheduling, and style. We’re happy to talk through options and help you find the best fit.

The Therapy Process

Most clients start with weekly sessions. Over time, some move to biweekly or monthly depending on their needs.

It really depends on your goals. Some people come for a few months, others stay longer. We’ll figure out what makes sense for you together.

• Individual: one-on-one with your therapist.
• Couples: working on relationship dynamics and communication.
• Group: connecting with others who share similar experiences, with therapist guidance.

Sometimes. If it feels helpful, we may suggest journaling, practicing skills, or trying exercises between sessions. It’s always collaborative.

FAQ

Is this therapy or a class?

It’s a facilitated, curriculum-based group using The Daring Way™ frameworks. It’s therapeutic, but not a replacement for individual therapy.

Can I use my insurance?

These are program cohorts and not typically insurance-billable. Many participants use HSA/FSA.

What happens after I submit the form?

We’ll email proposed dates and a link to schedule a brief fit call. If it’s a go, you’ll receive the deposit link (DG) to reserve your seat.

I’m nervous about groups. Is that normal?

Totally. We go at a humane pace, practice consent, and create structure so you’re never thrown in the deep end.

Is this group queer-affirming and trauma-aware?

Yes. Our practice centers LGBTQ+ and trauma-affected folks, with attention to neurodivergent needs and safety.
